2020 has been tough for many reasons. First the Earth suffocated in the forest fires and then the human race suffocated due to coronavirus pandemic. This unpredictable dynamics encompassed around us, coupled with a backdrop of political unrest can significantly impact our mental health.
Last week was particularly difficult for me. Amongst my friends and acquaintances, we heard of 8 new coronavirus patients, 1 death and 1 on deathbed= 10 negative thoughts nibbling my brains! It’s scary; the future is unclear; even if we survive, who’d be remaining with us to rejoice; will this ever end!
But would worrying really help???
When you’re high on emotion
And you’re losing your focus
And you feel too exhausted to pray
Don’t get lost in the moment
Or give up when you’re closest
All you need is somebody to say
It’s okay not to be okay
This is a perfect song to cope with our emotional turmoils. Demi, a self-advocate of mental health awareness, sings about how it is alright to feel what you are feeling right now. There’s no need to hold it together or keep hoping for the best always.
- Sometimes, you need to take a break and do nothing.
- Sometimes, you need to speak up and share your feelings with others.
- Sometimes, you need to learn to be okay with yourself.
Marshmello ensures that the music is upbeat and satisfying to the ears at the same time.

“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but, importantly, YOU ARE NOT THE RAIN.” — Matt Haig
Yes, 2020 is an exceptional year in every possible way! But, among all the negativities. we must find something that can help us to bear the pains and pangs. Music indeed is therapeutic …thanks for sharing the song… 🙂
